"For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming."1 Corinthians 15:21-23.
"And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit" 1 Corinthians 15:45
I have been spending a lot of time this past year studying the Book of Revelation by taking each verse and doing a word study allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture based on what Paul told Timothy, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:15-17 NIV). When one studies what the Holy Spirit gave John using other Scriptures, the culture, the language, and most of all, truly knowing just how much our Heavenly Father loves us expressing this through His character and nature, we begin to question the teachings of what the so called "prophets" are sharing from Scripture.
In growing up in the Lord I have heard many doctrines that have taught that God is going to rapture the Christians out into space somewhere and destroy the earth. Some people have strong views that it will happen before a great tribulation occurs destroying much of the earth; and others question if the Christians will have to go through a part of a seven year terror. For the past 40+ years of my life I can remember each new world event causing people to either justify their doctrine interpretation about the "end times," or change it to fit into their mold that would still be called a "prophesy."
As long as we look to the future pointing judgment on someone else to determine our destiny instead of within ourselves, we are no different than the first Adam, even though we profess that Jesus Christ is Lord. God has only seen two men in all of creation: The first Adam (corporate man) was created in His image as a son of God who considered himself as god. He was crucified over 2000 years ago no longer existing except through our own words and imagination. The second man, Jesus Christ, is God whom we are now in Him. Unfortunately, many of us calling ourselves Christians still allow the mind of the first Adam to control God's house.
John wrote in Revelation 13:18 about "the mark of the beast" which has caused an illusion created by our imagination that has brought fear to the body of Christ for many years because of the number 666 connected with this beast.
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
I have heard this to be the mark that the "man of sin" or the "antichrist" will place on mankind in many deceptive ways: Through social security numbers, scanners, chips under the skin, pacemakers, computers, credit cards and/or ATM cards, calculators, music, machines, and on and on…
Each generation has their interpretation of this mark, and each generation points fingers of who they think this antichrist is that will deceptively infiltrate his mark upon mankind creating a continuous realm of suspicion and fear that has been passed from generation to generation. As long as we live in this kind of ignorance, even though we believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and our Lord and savior, we will not know the truth and freedom of our inheritance as a son of God available to us today.
The real antichrist that must be moved out of the way in our lives is the imagination that the old Adam still exist. We must see ourselves as Paul writes, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).
John follows this same thought by letting us know, "Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment(when our natural understanding tries to rule and dominate what the mind of Christ reveals): because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (still acting like a child instead of being a son of God)" (1 John 4:17-18).
So let's address this issue about the mark of the beast exposing the "antichrist spirit" in reference to this number 666. God designed a unique number system which is infiltrated throughout the Scriptures so that through the ages the mathematics infiltrated in letters would stand the test of time that God's word is truth. "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18).
The number of the beast is not only written as literal numbers, but each letter in both the Hebrew and Greek alphabet has been given a numeric value. For example: The letter "a" in Greek would mean "1," the letter "i" would mean "10," and the letter "r" would signify "100."
Not only did the numbers signify different letters, but they would also express words. The word "grace" has a number "5," the word "finished or complete" has the number "7," and the number for "amen" is the number "99."
The number for "man" is "6." When this number is viewed in a triple form it expresses man's control of the temple of God (body, soul, and spirit). The number "3" is a divine number, but when used in a triple form of the number "6" it becomes a bondage. The numeric value of 6x3=18 which is the number for bondage. The number for "Jesus" is "888," a triple number for "new beginning."
To really understand the wonderful significance of God's truth that Biblical mathematics can teach us we would need to spend days and hours researching this topic. My objective with this article is to encourage readers to consider other options of what Scripture might be telling us that goes beyond our literal interpretation setting men free from the bondages we have been in over the issues connected with "the mark of the beast" and the number "666." If we study other Scriptures in the Bibles we can find verses that have words with this number that may help us with understanding the truth about the mark of the beast.
To begin, let's break down the number 666:
¬ 6 is the number of man that has pride of the flesh
¬ 60 is the number for pride over a dominion or territory
« 600 is the number for warfare; battle of the mind
Even though thousands of the Greek words that are composed in the New Testament have a numeric value; only FIVE words have so far been discovered which have the number "666" hidden behind them. These can be found in the following:
M Matthew 8:28 with the Greek word "apollumetha" for "we perish." It is the will of God that none should perish (John 10:28).
M Matthew 15:2, 3-6 with the Greek word "paradosis" for "tradition." Jesus said in verse 6,"thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition." The word "tradition" is connected with an antichrist spirit of something people use as a substitute for a real relationship with God.
M John 19:34 and 20:20 with the Greek word "pleuran" for "side." This word is connected with justification; needing proof instead of living by faith.
M Acts 19:34 with the Greek word "euporia" for "wealth." It is not money itself that is evil, but the love of it (1 Timothy 6:10).
M 1 Peter 1:1 with the Greek word "diasporas" for "scattered." Anything that separates and divides the body of Christ is not of God. Man divides; God unites.
As we look into Scripture to study the implication about the number "666" and "the mark of the beast" we allow ourselves to reconsider our concept about this topic. We begin to understand that there is a bigger message for us today than to limit this to being a future antichrist ready to control and brand mankind with his mark.
We must begin by stop pointing fingers at others with the inheritance that Adam and Eve gave mankind, and start evaluating ourselves of whether or not we are truly being the church today, individually and corporately, as the body of Christ.
Paul tells us about the mystery of Iniquity in 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8,"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he (mind of the first Adam/ego) be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord(Christ in us) shall consume with the spirit of his mouth (the word coming from the mind of Christ within us), and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:"
Today, there is a battle called Armageddon taking place within our mind:
"The Mystery of Christ in you"
"The Mystery of Iniquity"
What mind is fighting your Armageddon? The mind of Christ or the mind of your natural understanding?
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, (Christ in YOU)"
