What are the Cherubim?

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them...," Exodus 20:4-5.

We are told by God to make no image of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Is it forbidden for us to make images, but it is ok for God to? Is God's parenting skills "do as I say, but not as I do?" NO, NO, and NO!! God is good all the time, and is not double minded. If this is not the way that we are to view this situation, then there must be understanding of why God's tabernacle had cherubim on the curtains, and on the ark of the covenant. Keep in mind that God is good all the time, so what He declares for Himself He must also declare for His children.

So what are these images called Cherubim? To understand their existence we must first ask what they looked like. The mind set of Moses and the children of Israel found in the book of Exodus was an Egyptian mind. The Egyptians were famous for using different images in their religious rituals, and one of them was a cherubim. The Israelites had no previous established religion before they left Egypt because of being in bondage for over 400 years. Remember the tabernacle was built after they left Egypt. What they knew of making cherubim came from what they saw of the Egyptians, and the same would be for Moses. When God told Moses to build an ark, Moses knew he was pertaining to a coffin. For Moses to have the mercy seat and cherubim built, he knew he was building a place of authority, power, and a throne for God.

The description given in Exodus on how to build the cherubim is very limited.

Chapter 25:18-21 says, "And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubim on the two ends thereof. And the cherubim's shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee." In Exodus 26:1 we read, "Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubim of cunning work shalt thou make them."

There is more scriptures that use the word cherubim, however, referring to the tabernacle in the wilderness, the verses don't give anymore information than what these have said about the description of them. When you read in I Kings there is a little more description for Solomon's temple, and the in Ezekiel we have a vision describing a very unusual creature with several faces called cherubim. I've never seen pictures of the ark of the covenant have the cherubim that Ezekiel saw, yet his is the only real detailed description of what these creations might look like.

Somehow Bezaleel, who was appointed by God to build the ark, mercy seat, and cherubim was given the wisdom to create a material image that was pleasing to God that would be placed where God would reside. God went to great lengths to give detailed instruction on how to build the ark and the mercy seat, but not what the face or the wings of the cherubim were suppose to look like. These people had a mind set of Egypt that was customary to put parts of a birds body on a human form, but what kind of bird? Where their wings as an Eagle or a dove? Was the face as a man, a lion, a bird, etc.

I'm sure by now you ask what difference does it make, why all the inquisition? God said make no image, yet we have images sitting next to God, made out of the same piece of gold that the mercy seat is made of. These images are an extension of the mercy seat. The mercy seat is Jesus Christ with all death and judgment underneath him. The cherubim's are to His right and left. This is all inside the most Holy place on the earth where God resides.

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 Paul tells us, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." The word imagination in the New Testament comes from the Greek word Logismos meaning to reckon, such as calculating or considering a predetermined conduct. God says we are to cast down our imagination. In the Old Testament the Hebrew word for imagination is Yatsar. It means to form, to fashion, to devise, to frame, to produce, to create, to be predestined. The term also means to construct thoughts and purposes. In Genesis 7:20 we are told that, "the imagination of man's heart is evil….."

So what are Cherubim? They are the imagination of the children of God. They sit at His throne with power and authority. They have the faces of a lion, ox, eagle, and man representing the four gospels of Jesus Christ. They have the power of the Holy Spirit in their wings, and they are suppose to have the fullness of the mercy seat putting all death underneath them. When we have the mind of Christ we have the ability to reflect the mercy seat of God. When we mix the mind of Christ, the Word, with our religious mindset we have power of our imagination.

The evil of all evils is your imagination which will keep you from all that God wants you to be. It will condemn you, it will destroy you. The destroyer is in the imagination of people. The cherubim were on the veil because the veil had to be pulled back to go from the middle court to the most Holy place. The Word is covered until the Holy Spirit pulls back the veil of your imagination revealing His truth. Adam gave over to the devil because he gave into his imagination. Nothing they imaged would be impossible. If you can pull apart imagination then you have God. Religion works from the outside in. Each place in the tabernacle you try to go to get to the throne of God is met with an imagination of "your not worthy", but if you "clean-up your act" or "get more faith", or more knowledge you might make it to the next level of getting close to God.

Religion is Satan's greatest warrior, because if you pull back the curtain of imagination you might see God. When you see God you don't need the ritual and formality of listening to the "body" because you know the voice of God and have the mind of God. What more is there when you have come into the presence of God?

He wants to transform you into His image while in the body on the earth. In order for this to take place the evil of all evil will have to go which is your imagination.

Satan does not create, but takes what belongs to God and imitates intertwining judgment and imagination that has appeal to the senses of man. When man does not know truth then what is offered of the imagination becomes truth to the temple of God bringing destruction into the Holy of Holies.

How did Adam bring sin and destruction into this world? His imagination. In Genesis3:3 we read the woman saying, "ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, least ye die". Where did the woman get these words that have been created? She claims that God said it. She is right, but not Father God, Adam god. Adam was the only other creator to exist. Adam was created in the image, likeness of God with the ability to create with the power of words. He was the son of God (Luke 3). Father God said in Genesis 2:17, "Thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die". Now the serpent had two minds, the mind of Father God, and the mind of God's son, Adam, who added the word touch to the creation of what his father said.

In Genesis 3:5 we read the serpent saying, "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil". Did the serpent really deceive the woman considering he did speak truth? In Genesis 3:22 we read, "The Lord God said, "Behold, the man is become as one of us to know good and evil". Yes, the serpent did deceive the woman (to us, the church, the bride of Christ). He took the words of God the Father and intertwined judgment of knowing good and evil by appealing to the senses of man with the word touch that the woman received from Adam. When we know good and evil we bring judgment into the house of God. We also become ruled by our imaginations trying to determine what is right or wrong. God can only live where He builds.

Turn to Genesis 11:1, "And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech"……verse 6, "and the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do' and now nothing will be restrained from the, which they have imagined to do". What stops the imagination? When the Holy Spirit speaks the Word of God. Our natural minds can not understand the language, so we can't reason with what God is doing. Verse 7, "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech". God gave them His language which they didn't understand because their mind was focused on themselves versus

knowing the voice of their Father.

The power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). It begins in the heart and mind of creation. Once it is expressed by the tongue the words have the potential to be manifested in the natural. If you can be full of "good" then you also have an anointing to "evil". The tree of knowledge had both fruit.

On the day of Pentecost the tongue was changed which brought transformation. A coward like Peter was given a boldness to manifest the image of his Father by his words. His whole body was transformed. To be transformed into His image requires the ability to pray in tongues so that your natural mind can't tell the God in you how to handle a situation, but God will tell your mind and body what He wants through tongues, and you can't argue with Him. You can't make yourself into the image of God from the outside in, it must be God in you transforming the outside.

Isaiah 25:7-8, "And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth for the Lord hath spoken it".

These scriptures were fulfilled at Calvary and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. When he went into the Holy of Holies and became our mercy seat. We sit next to him on the throne of God. The faces of the cherubim are our face with the eyes of the Holy Spirit. We should see as God sees with the eyes of mercy. When you use the word you use it with His character so that Love, Light, and Life are manifested out of darkness. If you see the tabernacle as the temple of God that you go through from the outer court to the inner court you will not achieve the fullness of mercy to bring to those in the outer court. You must first see that you were dead, life-less, inside the ark of the covenant. God took you and brought transformation life in you covering you with gold, his character. He put Himself everywhere. There is no race or sex. God is all in all. His mercy seat becomes evident. The word and miracle are inside the ark. You don't see it, but the mercy seat is manifested. There is no mercy in the outer court. Its hard to have mercy when you hang around blood and death. It takes the Holy of Holies of all God to overcome judgment.

The five-fold ministry was to role away the stone crushing of the 10 commandments of judgment. When the law is rolled away so is the death penalty. We didn't escape the penalty, but hung on the cross with him 2000 years ago. Genesis 29:3 tells us that all the flocks gathered. Jesus removed the demands of the law mentality. The stone that was covering the well of water in this chapter. We now can understand the real love and mercy of the Father because the stone has been removed from the grave.

You are the ark of God. Jesus is the High Priest which he took his blood and covered you with mercy so all that was in the coffin has his life, love, and light. All around the mercy seat was a crown. Thee crown is sitting on the head of the mercy seat, Jesus Christ. You are the body in the ark that has been given life as the body/bride of Him. The high priest in the Old Testament wore a crown that said "Holiness unto the Lord". This spoke of carrying the mind of God among the people, the mind of mercy.

A crown equals authority, power, and placement. It took a king to place the Word of God. The crown says you have to think a different way. You are royalty, a Son of God with power and authority. You can't think like the accuser would which spoke of judgment and death based on good and evil. We must cast down our imagination, and be who we have been created to be walking on this earth manifesting the Sons of God.

May God bless you with this message revealing His identity in you.
